    BES Licensing Question

I've been playing around with the idea of installing a new BES for our company and I've actually got one running and several users on it. Now that I have it going I want to move from the temporary license to a permanent one. And I've requested a key from our wireless carrier. He told me that he spoke to a RIM rep and they have a key for us that will allow us to have a permanent BES server but we need to first un-install (4.1.5) )then re-install the software but version 4.1.2 and input the new key. My question is, why?

If I loaded the BES full version and have everything going why would I inconvience everyone? So I tried putting in the new key and it took but it still prompts me that my trial version will soon expire. So do I need to uninstall?

No you definetly do not need to uninstall to switch license keys. You can manage CAL's via BlackBerry Manager>BlackBerry Domain>Account>License Management

You can also modify SRP identifier, etc in Servers>ServerName>Edit Properties>General

So then why does my BES still tell me that I have X days left? Do I need to verify in my SQL DB?

Are you saying that you've already updated the SRP Auth info, the CAL's etc done a reboot and its still telling you that you have X days left? BES can tell the difference between an eval CAL and a real CAL, you can not mix the two
