    BES

    Hello all.
I do counsulting work for various companies ranging from small (6 empolyees) to larger (75-100 employees). One of the larger ones is porbably going to switch their wireless phone system to BBs. I would like to know where I can get information to present to the company :costs, hardware, software, etc..... Since there seems to be a lot of information about this, I am afraid I need a little help.

This company has employees nationwide so I believe the BB system will work really well for them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Riverman

Go to http://www.blackberry.com/ and click on the link to the business website (this is on the left of the homepage).

Adding to Erica: RIM sells the Enterprise software. No one else.

All their pricing is online. It varies according to number of users.

    Re: BES

Lewis, I thought that you could also get the BES software from carriers business sales also, but I may be wrong.

So would talking to Rim directly is the way to go, or do I ask my service provider?

    Re: BES

I would contact RIM. Especially if the companies you deal with work with multiple carriers in the different locations. It might be necessary as different locales have different coverage problems.

    Hope this helps

You are likely correct. When I said no one else, I meant no third party software vendors and such. And even if they did, RIM runs a proper socialist company, like Apple, and has consistent pricing everywhere.

If you bought BES through the wireless carrier, isn't it hosted? Or locked to their network only?

    Re: BES

Lewis, I would think it would be locked to the carrier, but some companies or organizations within a company will lock in to a particular carrier, just to get larger discounts. Don't know if it would be carrier hosted or not. I know RIM is trying to work with carriers to provide hosted BES service.

Just my understanding of how things work.

    Re: BES

no if you buy a BES from a service provider or RIM it is exactly the same software it is not locked to a specific service provider. you can have any BB connected to any BES.
