    Blackberry Upgrade issue

My director got a new Blackberry, and she has emails in her Blackberry, which are either filed in her pst's or delete in her outlook. So when i setup her new Blackberry, obviously only the email in outlook showed up in her new Blackberry. now, she wants all her emails from her old one into her new Blackberry.

    Any ideas?

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ she should have backed up the old unit first. Then restore on the new unit. I always do this when I have to change units and all messages, addresses, settings get loaded on the new phone

Safah, I don't think that she can do that. She can try to forward the emails to herself again from her old blackberry. However, if the emails are over a week old or so, that won't work.

If there is another way, someone else will be along soon to share it with you.

i have tried that.....but heres what happens....
the new blackberry when it registers on the bes, downloads the last 100 emails.
say she had 10 emails in her old blackberry,
then there would two copies of every message in the handheld...

She could try forwarding them to another email address of hers (AOL, Yahoo, etc.). Then when she sets up the new BB, she could then set up the AOL/Yahoo account and retrieve them then?

I don't believe there is anything you can do. Even if you do a backup now of the old device, when you do the restore to the new device, it will erase the 100 emails currently on the new device.

And if the old emails were only on the old device, and not on the exchange server, you could not do anything with them. (Forward, reply)

Backup/restore of messages is only really beneficial if you utilize it at the time of the upgrade.

Backup/Restore of other items (ringtones, pictures, Bookmarks, etc) is what is really valuable for.

Just my opinion. Hope this helps.

    Rich.
