    Hello.

    I have a BB that was assigned to another user. I now need to assign the same BB to a new user. As per my previous post, I have added the new user to the BB Domain and then tried to 'Assign Handheld to User'.
    I keep getting the message:

    'An error occurred while assigning the handheld to the user.
    Capability information could not be retrieved from the handheld. (2)'

    Has anyone come across this message before and if so how can I get around it and assign the BB to the user? It almost seems like it is a licensing issue?????? but then I ma guessing.

    I usually just set an activation password for the new user and tell the BB to do an enterprise activation to the new email address and password you setup.

    Hi,

    Apply a blank policy to the handheld, you may have to wipe it after that then just run the enterprise activation again for the new user.

    Which method of Activation are you using OTA or wired. If you are using OTA all you should have to do is enter there email address and the password that you set for activation. This is the preferred method for activating per RIM as there can possibly be problems with wired activation.

    You could try to completely wipe the device with JLCommander. Then reload the latest device OS with Desktop Manager. When the device comes back up Enterprise Activate which ever method you usually do.

    Finally got it sorted out. Called VOdafone and they activated the BB. I then deleted the user from the BB Manager and re-added the user. Then on the BB pearl I added their email address and password and presto activation occurred.
