Applying IT Policy to ALL users

    Hi

We are on BES 4.1.5 with Exchange 2003.

We want to set a password protection policy for all our users.

I've already copied the Default policy, amended it with the settings we want, and applied to a group of test users. All looks good.

Now, I need to apply this to everyone.

    What's everyone's opinion...

    a) Amend the Default policy with the updated settings
    or
    b) Apply the new policy to everyone

And, if B, how do I apply the new policy to everyone in the best way?

Finally, is there a recommended time to do this? During business hours, outside business hours etc?

    Many thanks in advance!

Don't touch the Default Policy. Use option B.

Either select all your users and right click (shift click) or put all your users into a group and assign the policy to the group.

Probably best to do this during business hours since some users may require some support, usually in the form of password resets.

    Thanks...I'll do that!

Out of interest, why not use the default policy? We could make a copy of it before we make the change just in case we need to roll back?

RIM always says to never change the Default policy. I'm sure there's some reasoning behind it, but most everyone just doesn't touch it.

I have BES 4.1 and the Default IT Policy had been modified by one of the previous consultant. Is there a way the I can restore the Default IT Policy back to the original Default setting?
