    Re: Add CAL error

welcome to pinstack! can you post a bit more detail, steps taken and exact error message(s).

In the mean time see if this helps:

To move from an evaluation to a production version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.0, do the following tasks:
    1. Back up the database.
    2. Clear the contents of the LicenseKeys table.
    3. Uninstall the evaluation version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    4. Install the production version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    5. Update the Service Routing Protocol (SRP) Identifier and SRP Authentication Key.
    6. Update the Client Access License (CAL).
    7. Activate the BlackBerry® wireless devices.
    Task 1

    Back up the database.
    For Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE)
    1. On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server containing the database, open a command prompt, type osql -E, then press ENTER.
    2. Enter the following commands in the specified order:1>backup database <database_name> to disk = “c:\<database_name>.bak”
      2>go
      1>quit
    3. Close the command prompt.
    For Microsoft SQL Server 2000
    1. On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server containing the database, open the SQL Server Enterprise Manager and go to Microsoft SQL Servers\SQL Server Group\<SQL_server_name>\Databases.where <SQL_server_name> is the name of the Microsoft SQL Server.
    2. Right-click the database name and click All Tasks > Backup Database.Note: Ensure the Backup Type is set to Complete.
    3. Under Destination, click Add, then specify a file location and name. For example, c:\backup.bak.
    4. Click OK. You will receive notification after the backup is complete.
    Task 2

    Delete the LicenseKeys table.
    1. On the BlackBerry Enterprise Server containing the database, open a command prompt, type osql -E, then press ENTER.
    2. Enter the following command in the specified order:1>use besmgmt
      2>go
      1>delete from licensekeys
      2>go
      1>quit
    3. Close the command prompt.
    Task 3

Uninstall the evaluation version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    1. Export the user list prior to uninstalling the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. For instructions, see the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Maintenance Guide.
    2. Click Start > Settings > Control Panel, then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
    3. Highlight BlackBerry Enterprise Server, then click Remove.
    4. If prompted with the Are you sure you want to remove the BlackBerry Enterprise Server from your computer dialog box, click Yes.
    5. Click Close.
    Task 4

Install the production version of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
    1. Double-click setup.exe in the installation folder. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server Installation wizard starts.
    2. Select BlackBerry Enterprise Server as the Setup Type, then click Next.
    3. Follow the prompts. During installation the following information will be automatically populated and must not be changed or else user information will be lost:
      • The BlackBerry Server Name screen shows the name of the evaluation BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The Novell GroupWise version will not prompt for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server name during the upgrade.
      • The Database screen points to the existing database.
      • The Database Connectivity tab of the BlackBerry Server Configuration Panel screen shows the evaluation SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key. The Novell GroupWise version will not automatically populate the Admin User name.
    Task 5

In BlackBerry Manager, update the SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key.
    For Microsoft Exchange
    1. Right-click the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, then select BlackBerry Server Properties.
    2. On the General tab, enter the production SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key.
    3. Click Apply, then click OK.
For Novell GroupWise and IBM Lotus Domino
    1. Click the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, then click the Server Configuration tab.
    2. Click Edit Properties, then enter the production SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key information.
    3. Click Apply, then click OK.
    4. For Novell GroupWise, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, then stop and restart the BlackBerry Synchronization Service.
    Task 6

    Update the CAL.
Note: The CAL is separate from the SRP Identifier and Authentication Key. It can be updated at any time prior to expiration, regardless of whether you are running evaluation or production software.
    For Microsoft Exchange
    1. In BlackBerry Manager, right-click BlackBerry Manager, then click Properties.
    2. Click the License tab.
    3. In the Upgrade Key field, enter the production CAL key.
    4. Click Add License. The evaluation CAL key will be overwritten.
    5. Click Apply, then click OK.
For Novell GroupWise and IBM Lotus Domino
    1. In BlackBerry Manager, select BlackBerry Domain.
    2. In the right window pane, expand Account, then click License Management.
    3. In the New License Key field, enter the production CAL, then click Add License.
    4. Click Close.
    Task 7

    Activate the BlackBerry devices.
If the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is running 4.0 software or later and the devices are running 4.0 software or later, users can activate their own BlackBerry devices.

    Re: Add CAL error

I have installed a production BES with temp license for testing. But when I add production CAL to the production BES, it shows "Incompatible with existing CAL...". So I dont know how to remove the temp CAL and install production CAL as the CAL will expire soon.
