BES adjustment to allow lookups to point to the AD display name vs AD 1st n

Lookups on the BlackBerry devices are pointing to the first/last name field in AD. However, users on the BES are listed by their display name in AD. In many cases a user’s first name may be listed differently between these 2 AD fields. For example, in AD a user is listed as Charles in the first name field (BB lookup), but everyone knows him as Mike, which is listed in the display name field (BES listing).

To avoid confusion is there a way to change the lookup field so instead of pointing to the first name field it points to the display name field in AD? We are running BES 5.0 in an Exchange 2007 environment with a remote SQL 2005 DB. Is this something that can even be changed or adjusted on the BES?

Here's a responce from RIM on this topic. I did some research and it appears that it’s more a function of how the address look up is done via the mapi session that makes it impossible to change how we do the look up. The only option you would have is to configure LDAP look up instead of the GAL look up but even then you need to setup a custom registry key to search by display name. This is possible but we do not have the registry key to offer to make that possible.
