Do what? Sorry, you lost me with using 'AT&T' and 'UMA' in the same sentence. I thought AT&T did not implement UMA technology.

at&t did not implement UMA. Not sure if that would actually work. Has anyone tried an unlocked UMA phone on at&t and gotten the UMA to successfully work? I am curious how well the UMA works in the T-Mobile 8820 also.

    More pics

Since some meanies seem to think I'm making all of this up, here are more pics.

H@H works fine on it. Haven't tried out the GPS function. I'll give it a whirl this weekend.

No camera on the 8820. It replaces the camera for GPS.

So the op can try to use his/her unlocked att 8820 with tmobile's uma. Previously, even an unlocked att 8820 can't use tmobile's uma because lack of 8820 uma service book. Rumor is tmobile's vendor id is hardcoded into their uma capable phone to avoid another branded uma phone to be used on tmobile uma service. Now it is good time to find out whether is true or not.

I'm a Tmobile customer using an unlocked 8820 for those wondering why I am referring to an AT&T 8820.

If T-mobile's UMA feature is hardcoded based on vendor I.D that would really blow. I'm hoping that a simple O.S install and new books will enable the feature.

I was able to use UMA on an 8320 and liked it alot. Sound quality was good and I was able to use my phone at home where I have poor cellular reception.

I guess I will find out in a few days.

Just got my 8820 shipped from tmobile yesterday. Awesome phone so far. Happy with the upgrade from the 8320 to this point.

Tmobile made the handheld software available last night so I downloaded and installed it on my AT&T 8820. No luck with UMA, it looks like it may be locked to the vendor I.D. I looked in the Blackberry.ALX file to see if I could see an entry for UMA but I wasn't too sure at what I was looking at. Perhaps someone smarter than I will figure out how to get this working.

    Bump

I haven't seen any activity on this topic in quite some time.....but now, I'm the lucky recipient of an unlocked AT&T branded 8820.

Has anyone had any luck getting UMA on a device like mine?

If not has anyone figured out exactly why it won't work (curiosity's sake)
