    Verizon os?

I've seem some posts that people have ordered 8830's. I assume Verizon should have the os up on their site (you know what they say about people that "assume" anything). Will this os work on the 8800? Anyne tried it yet?

I think it won't as the device is an hibrid... But somebody will have to try it (and it won't be me )

Probably not. You'd have to install both handheld software packages and manually copy files from one to the other to test. In some cases this works, in others it doesn't.

What do you want from Verizon's OS?

    Re: Verizon os?

Is this 4.2.2.66 the same OS version as being released on the 8300?

I'm struggling to decide between the two, though it's like comparing apples to oranges. EVDO v. EDGE (8830 wins), Camera v. NONE (8300 wins), Music listening experience (8300 wins with the 3.5mm output), Voice (in my area 8830 on Verizon wins), Tethering (8830 wins), Hand-feel/comfort of use (8300 wins), weight/size (8300 wins), GPS (neither wins!), Craddle charging (8300 will have one around June 1, thus wins) and finally Availability (8830 wins).

    Eeeesh... what a struggle.

What a struggle indeed! Pick the features you like most and don't look back. I'm already itching to sell my 8800 on ebay and go w/ the 8300 but that's just me.

    Re: Verizon os?

Well, if I were already on AT&T it wouldn't be a debate, but I already left AT&T once because I was disappointed with data performance. Obviously that's still going to be the case, but I'm trying to assess the balance of options on the 8300 with my consistent data speeds on the 8830.

(Honestly, this did start out as a conversation about the OS. Sorry to go off-topic)
