My company is sending me a 8800 to replace my old 7290. Can anyone tell me if I can restore my backup from the 7290 to the 8800 and keep all or some settings? Browser favorites, tasks, contacts etc etc??
    Thanks for any help.

Do you have desktop manager? There is a swap device function that will help you with most if not all of this....

Good luck and have fun with your new device!

if its a company unit, then all your info should be saved on the BES and you shouldn't need to worry, when the new one is activated all info will be synchronized automatically again....

thats what i love about BB, you never lose any data...

Its best to first install the newer desktop manager as the 8800 wont work with the old DTM SW, then perform a backup from the old device then restore to the newer one. I have it from RIM techs that switch device wizard is nice but BB to BB sometimes has problems, I have firsthand experience with the probs too, it only transferred some of my data and wiped all the info i didnt get, so do B/U and restore instead, switch device wizard is best used when moving data from a non-RIM device to a RIM device.
