    Yes it is possible...

When you download and install the Roger OS on your PC, delete the file vendor.xml... then you are able to install that OS on your cingular...

See the guides and FAQ there you will find more information on this subject

I do not know if it has been updated...

I would install T-mobile OS, it fixes many bugs (as Rogers) and it let you use OperaMini.

ps: i got an 8800 Cingular Branded unlocked

The OS you point out is 4.1. When I unlocked my vendor codes I installed the latest handheld software from the cingular site and the OS was 4.2 So I have the latest version

I really would like to try the OS from Blackberry no branding at all. I had a Nokia E62 I unbranded it and returned it to true Nokia form Can you do this with blackberry

Sorry for all the confusion, I think I get it now. The OS installs dont actually unbrand the phone they are justt OS from the carrier. It wont necessarily brand it to T-Mobile or any other carrier or will it.

    The cingular Version is:
    • Applications: 4.2.1.72
    • Software Platform: 2.3.0.54
    • File name: 8800M_PBr4.2.1_rel109_PL2.3.0.54_A4.2.1.72_Cingula r.exe
    • File size: 69.43MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

    The T-Mobile is applications:
    Handheld Software (4.2.1.74)

    so it is newer

Final question. When going to OS from T-Mobile do I have to delete the vendor.xml file before installing on my device?

    Re: Unbranding the 8800

I loaded the 8800 Rogers O.S (4.2.1.90) onto my device. It worked, BUT, the icons for MyFaves then showed up in the wrong places, i.e. wrong name matching wrong number. T-Mobile couldn't even fix it. So I had to revert back to the original O.S.

A shame really, I was trying to get the sound to come through my Bluetooth headset with TeleNav. According to sources, it will only work with the O.S. 4.2.1.90
