    Trackball sensitivity

I have an 8830. Recently I noticed that when i go to push the trackball down to select an icon, I barely touch it and it selects the icon, instead of having to push it all the way down as normal. This is annoying to say the least because it automatically selects again when I dont want it to! Anyone know if there are any other settings for this or is there a way to reset it other than the options/keyboard stuff??? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated..

The only settings I'm aware of are through the options, screen/keyboard. I'm sure if there's another way, someone will be along to chime in. Good luck.

Have you tried removing the silver ring around the trackball and removing the trackball itself and giving it a good cleaning with a aerosol can of air? I clean mine seldone and periodically the actual push button that lies underneath the trackball gets a buildup of gunk...might try that if you havnt...my 2 cents! Goodluck

no sounds like a bad trackball......try taking trackball out and there should be a little metal piece thats under the ball that you could try and pullout a little farther...not to far or you could break it......

Ok... the pictures that show the removing of the trackball are the ones I should follow ? No special tools?? Just a screwdriver? What about the whole air thing ?

    Re: Trackball sensitivity

Ok.. that was painless.... Scary, but painless..... that housing poped right off and the trackball itself dropped right out... SWEET!! wasnt to dirty.. just had a little black smudge on it, which i removed. I put back the ball and the housing and now it seems to be working better..... Man that was annoying... Thanks for all the replies stackers!!!
