if i am on tmobile and i buy the 8800 from cingular..... what do i do to go about getting the cingular brands away from the operating system? is that possible? kind of like unlocking vendor themes i guess....... just trying to make sure that if i do buy the phone i dont have to look at that silly orange man all day. |

you would have to unlock the phone first and I dont think Cingular would do it unless you are there customer (and for 3 months)

My brother has been a customer for 10 years. He will be upgrading and giving to me after he unlocks the phone. He is content with the 8700c now.... So I got that part down. I just need to figure out if it is possible to get the other vendor themes or not ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

if you can get it unlocked you should be ok. even with out unlocking my 8700c i was able to instally another carrier's OS on it to get the Zen theme. and that came with other carrier's themes. I was running an Orange and Rogers OS for a long time until Cingular released their latest OS in November |

Has cingular even been around for 10 years? unless if you count at&t wireless, it hasn't.

Lol, wow. I guess the point I was making is that the 3 month requirement doesn't matter in my situation. But you are right, cingular has not been around for 10 years. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

Well, just to set the record straight, Cingular was Southwestern Bell wireless before they did the name change. And that has been around a lot longer than 10 years. Rcbjr. |

Cingular was created from a number of regional carriers. Anyway, you can load another carrier's OS but it's a moot point. The logo on the face and the splash screen will always be the same. You'd get the same effect just by loading another theme. |
