    Cheers...
There are two ways to look at this one:
    1. Cingular gets phones out as early as possible = happy customers
    2. Mass confusion over release date, customers scrambling to find stores that are selling them early, Cingular lifts the curtian to reveal a confused and uncoordinated retail chain.
    - Basically, store managers are undercutting their neighboring
Cingular stores by selling product early. To me this shows lack of
dicipline and control within the company,
as well as a FTO (F*** the others) mantality.

i highly doubt there is going to be an "8820" model release atleast for t-mobile because first and formost there hasn't been any different versions in the past for both these carriers other than the looks mainly, not only that but there has been absolutly no talk about any 88xx with a camera from research in motion, and if you look on the blackberry8800.com website they're already linking to cingular service and rogers wireless, and eventually for you t-mobile users.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~since when has a rival company have info on future releases anyways?? I wouldn't believe another compants documentation. Who is to say that Cingular info is accurate?

I just duct taped the 8100 to the back of the 8700, so now I have a limited edition BlackBerry 887100...Woot...It's sweet...

Lol, I suppose you could duct tape an 8700 to all sorts of things to create amazing devices! Laptops, toasters, walkie-talkies, igloo coolers, vacuum cleaners, etc.

I crack up at the thread about people all over Texas (and elsewhere) driving all over the place trying to snap up 8800s, calling and hammering the reps unmercifully, whipping out Benjamins, it's a freaking riot to read! There outta be a map online with little GPS dots for every 8800 making their way home from the store.

Sorry buddy, but CINGULAR employees can barely offer accurate information on their own company and products let alone try to tell us about a competitors. Sounds like some more CINGULAR propaganda to me. I'm just going to wait and see. As others said time will tell!

Great theories but very recent history shows that TMO did spring for the exclusive on the Pearl (how soon we forget!). Also, the 8700g's had a lot of keyboard issues that were never an issue on the 8700c. As for the OS, it's updatable so it's really a moot point...

Generally, fixes and updates are applied to the newer models but I haven't seen any drastic changes that early adopters really missed out on.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's much more in line with how RIM has operated in the past. It has really only been hype and rumor that has attributed WiFi (based on dubious reasoning) and a camera to TMO's release...

You haven't been paying attention. The Crimson will be released -- probably as the 8820. I have no idea when any carrier will release it but it seems more and more like TMO will just be getting an 8800 and not the rumored 8820 after all...

    buy a Pearl

Another BB without wifi and a camera? Big deal. It's like an 8700 with a mp3 player. For myself, I'll save my money and go to Europe. I am so happy overall with my Pearl, I can't see the buh big deal over this 8800. I had to do an intervention over this very issue this morning. Someone willing to forgo paying bills just to get an 8800 on release day. Sheesh. TMO has it's faults, but they do have it all over Cinguhell when it comes to pricing. Oops, did I type that outloud?

Jeeze...I am surprised noone has mentioned this OBVIOUS difference between the two...

The Cingy version says CINGULAR really big at the bottom and the TMO version says TMOBILE really big at the bottom.

The are HUGE logo's aren't they? I was ok with the smaller logo under the screen of the 8700, but I think I'm going to have to buy a blank case from somwhere when I get the 8800

You bring up a really great point here. Sheesh the Cingular Logo on my new 8800 is HUGE!

I have a friend who's a plastics specialist. He brought over a chemical for removing the logo. It's in the form of a non abrasive paste, almost like toothpaste.

I proceeded to use it to remove the Cingular logo and now it really looks nice.

However that said I am left with one small problem... my 8800 no longer works! Little did I know how important that Logo was to the operation of the BB!

So whatever the rest of you do, do not remove the logo!

OK, OK I won't quit my day job, a comic I'm not....just teasing.

But I am so much more pleased with the look of my "unbranded" BlackBerry.

    Cheers...
