When I get SOS on my 8100, T-Mobile, it's an indication that I have no service.

That sounds like a network issue. If you have made no modifications to the handset (mechanical or otherwise), the issue lies with you service provider or the sim card installed. I recommend that you contact your SP.

I've gotten SOS mode when there's no service, but only once did it say the SIM card could not be read. A battery-pull reboot solved that.

On 2 other phones in the past 2 years, I've had SIM cards suddenly go bad. (A Nokia and Motorola). A stop at the Cingular/AT&T store fixed that problem quickly. If you can't get it to work with a battery-pull reboot, go get a new SIM card from your provider.

I would recomend taking out the sim, and try to clean it with a dry piece of cloth.

Do the same with the sim card reader in the phone

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~remove sim card n battery 4 about 30 seconds.if that doesn't work register your host routing table. I had dat issue and did both of these things and haven't had that problem again.

    Re: Sim Card - S.O.S.

SIM cards can go bad for no reason sometimes. One of my users has had her 8820 for around 4 months now, and one day her screen read "SOS Sim card rejected". Usually that would be that her line was deactivated for some reason, but after checking with NBS, they said everything is fine. I activated a new SIM for her, and it was fine. I wonder if overcharging might be an issue with that...hmm
