most likely. I also heard that some companies are gearing up for 5 or 6 bands of frequency.

Re: RIM readies new UI, CPU for 3G BlackBerry 9000?

I was going to wait for the 9xxx model. However I was so miserable with the cramped & hard to use keyboard on my 8700c that I purchased a new 8800 3 days ago.

I must admit that this is a far better model than I anticipated. Not that I didn't think it would be nice, I just had no idea of how significantly improved it would be.

Unlike my 8700c which had a miserable keyboard, the 8800 has the best qwerty keyboard I've ever used.

Then there is the phone which is very clear and strong. The noise cancelling system truly does it's job and therefore the calls are very clear with great volume.

Anybody see the wacky RIM patent applications on the Engadget website?

There was a candybar shape with a portrait screen and the keyboard was a swiveling type. Normaly it shows numbers. Swing it 90 degrees and the qwerty keyboard is usable. Anyone think these designs will reach daylight?

And lastly does anyone thing that a touchscreen will ever be created? And do we need it.

The only thing I think will eventually happen is there will be a mouse pointer that will work with the trackball. I think that will show up within the next two generations of RIM devices.

    Anyone else have any ideas?

any further news on the release date of the 9xxx series yet? its sept '07 already and the 8820s havn't even rolled out yet, are they gonna really release the 9xxx series end of this year? Doesn't make much sense to release that a few months after teh 8820s... I can't wait till the 9xxx series comes out...

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~well I for one plan to wait until then to upgrade. Wifi is nice, but if the rumors are real the 9xxx series is going to be a sweet, fast phone.

Not Really, Go back and read the date on the original post. But I wouldn't expect it before the end of the year. There are a lot of newer rumors out there now.

I am very ready for a new UI .. The current Blackberry 4.2 UI seems so dated ... 4.3 is a step in the right direction, however RIM has a long way to go to catch up to the other major players as far as UI is concerned.
