    resetting the password keeper 8800

hey I just migrated from the 8700 to the 8800 and apparently I had set a password for the password keeper on my 8700 and when I loaded my 8800 on the BES server it copied all my info including that password. Unfortuantly I dont remeber it. Can it be reset?

Snoweey, I believe if you enter an incorrect password 10 times in a row, it will erase everything in the password keeper and reset it.

I had this asked recently but haven't had a chance to confirm it.

Are you saying it will only wipe the Password Keeper and not the rest of the device?

Yes. If you enter the password for the password keeper wrong 10 times, it will only erase the data in the password keeper.

Liars. It completely resets your device if you do this. It just happened to me. Grrr.

you have to go into security settings and select 10 attempts for the password otherwise you can be entering the wrong password for a day and it wont reset! Resetting will clear everything including your addressbook!!! So do a backup of your contacts!

Re: resetting the password keeper 8800

I just entered the wrong password 9 times and the message I got was " Last Chance all information will be wiped" then on the 10th it wiped the 8800 clean. The wierd thing is , I stumbled upon this thread beacause my handheld was asking for a password, but I never set one. I had my fathers bb hooked up to my desktop manager, and I think it assigned my desktop software and the handheld his pw? Does this sound possible. The only pw on mine was to unlock the keypad and that one did not work. Drats...Double Drats!
