    Poor reception with 8820

Is anyone else out there having reception issues with their 8820? My office is in an area with so-so reception but I always got at least 3 bars with the 8800. The 8820 can't pull in a signal. I'm going to exchange it for another one later today.

I'm wondering if the addition of Wi-Fi somehow compromised the antenna used for the carrier's service signal. I'll report back after I get a replacement 8820.

I just stopped home to pick up the box and stuff for the 8820 before going to the AT&T store. Since my 8800 was sitting here I did a little test. There's definitely a signal issue with the 8820. I get 5 full bars with the 8800 and only 4 with the 8820. I'm bringing along my 8800 to the store to do a side by side with a different 8820. So we'll soon see if it's just a defective unit or an issue with the new model.

There's a few factors other than just the phone itself. Personally, 1 bar off from your other phone isn't something major. Especially when in a building made from cement. But I'm usually getting 5 bars. 4 sometimes when in the house. Much better than my old sony ericsson though.

The replacement 8820 works like a charm. There was definitely a problem with the first one. It couldn't even get a signal at the AT&T store. The new one showed 4 bars there. Guess the first one was a dud.
