I am wondering if it will be compatible with the 3G that T Mobile will be implementing at the end of this year...that would be good. The new Dash is not. Not worth spending the money on it. I have T Mobile as well as Sprint using a 6700 and the 3G is damn fast! I think for now I will just upgrade to the Pearl and wait and see what the 8800 offers.

    ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

I am on Vzw and as awesome as an 8800 sounds I know it will be a long long time before I see a new BB for CDMA. So what did I do...I just upgraded to an 8703e from a trustworthy and tank like 7250.

This question may have been asked already...but is Cingular offering this phone with UMTS/HSDPA supported? This will truly affect my decision in February, when my contract is up with Cingular. I am soooo tempted to switch to Verizon to get high speed tethering for my laptop while on the road. Only negative here is that I may do some overseas travel in the future.

    billydog72, Welcome to PinStack.

I really haven't heard any hints about UMTS/HSPDA on this device at all. Let us know if there is anything else we can do to help with your BB.

Heard from my Verizon RIM rep, that verizon should have a CDMA/GSM device out by may of next year; CDMA while in the states and would switch over to GSM/GPRS while overseas

    Cingular vs Verizon

Thanks for the greetings! I'm glad to be on board.

I was on the phone with a Cingular rep for about 45 minutes while waiting at the airport the other day. He shows decent UMTS coverage maps in the major metro areas....but that won't help me out if the 8800 is not compatible!

Thus the temptation to stray to the dark side of the moon....Verizon! I've been with Cingular over 4 years now and have been pretty happy so I'm hoping the 8800 has this high speed network feature. It is clear the 8700c does not.
