Cingular makes you pay full price if you're not eligible for upgrade. But you dlby have to pay full price at T-Mobile if you're not eligible for upgrade. Yet, you won't be eligible for the mail in rebate. ;-)

Or you can keep your packing and have friends @ Sprint that will extend your return policy for you. Thats how I stepped my game up from the 7130e to the 8703e...

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~phillyslix, I have to disagree with what you said about T-Mobile not charging full price if not eligible for an upgrade. My friend got an 8700 in August and used his eligibility for an upgrade and signed a 2-year contract to get a great price on it . Then only two months later when the Pearl came out he wanted it and had to pay $349, which is definitely full price. If its been a long time since your your last upgrade, but you are not yet eligeble for an upgrade they have sort of a graduated scale for what discounts you are eligible for. You won't neccesarily pay full price, but you won't get it at the cheapest full upgrade price either.

phillyslix, I've paid full shot for phones and gotten the rebate back, depends on the company I suppose, but you really don't know until you try.

If you're paying full price you really shouldn't be signing a 2 year contract extension. The extension is only worthwhile if your device is subsidized.

That's not true. The full price of the pearl is 429.99. My brother fit the same scenario as your friend and he paid 249.99 to upgrade to the Pearl.

I'm going to assume that this will also work with the 8703e? I would definitely love to be able to play videos on mine.

    Re: New Blackberry 8800 Confirmed!

I wanted to get my wife a blackberry for her birthday but I didn't want to pay a crap load of money. I figured the pearl would be a good buy since it has the video and camera and all, but I still don't know if I should wait for the 8800. I don't really see a big difference between the 8700g I have and the pearl or the 8800 except for media player, camera and mp3 capabilities. If I am wrong please let me know.
I'm on the bad, bad side of the road...

You can compare current models at the Blackberry site. IIRC the 8800 adds built-in GPS and Wifi to the Pearl's feature set (in addition to the obvious full qwerty).
