Question Need help on Opera Mini

    Hi bros and sis,

I'm new to the world of BB and this forum. I would appreciate if anyone can guide me on Opera Mini?

After installing, Opera runs a network test and it always fails. Y? I even got the APN for my carrier from Opera's site but it still doesn't work.

I had to re-install all of my service books after installing opera mini on my pearl, seemed to have wiped them out...

IIRC Opera Mini doesn't play well with 8800's.

The Cingulars latest software for 8800 described as follow:
    Package Version: 4.2.1.109
    Applications: 4.2.1.72
    Software Platform: 2.3.0.54
IT DOES LET OPERA MINI TO RUN (but it has many bugs)

The Rogers latest software for 8800 described as follow:
    Pkg Version: 4.2.1.138
    Applications: 4.2.1.90
    Platform: 2.3.0.72
IT DOES NOT LET OPERA MINI TO RUN (but it fixes many bugs )

    The T-Mobile
latest software for 8800 described as follow:
    Package Version: 4.2.1.111
    Applications: 4.2.1.74
    Software Platform: 2.3.0.54
IT DOES LET OPERA MINI TO RUN AND ALSO FIXES MANY BUGS!

So i recomend to use the T-mob, i do not take any resposabilities if you brick your phone! (neither pinstack)

what OS are you using d8nnii? installed Tmo's OS yesterday 4.2.1.74 and having no problems. If you are using Cingulars original OS that came with the BB it wont work. Upgrade to the Tmobile OS and it should be fine

But how do I see whether I'm using tmo or cing? I only know that I have the word vodafone printed on my phone. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

Re: Need help on Opera Mini

How do you know whteher your Cingular or Tmo? Well who do you pay for your service? If it says Vodaphone I'm sure thats who you use. But thats not really the question? What operating system are you using. Go to <Options>/<About> and see what platform and OS you use. Best thing to do is download the new Rogers of TMo Operating system and then Opera Mini should work fine.

    hi d8nnii,

i'm also on MobileOne BIS, the APN settings i'm using are as follows:

    APN: sunsurf
    Username for APN: sunsurf
    Password for APN: user123

are these the settings you're using? opera mini works great on mine...
in 'settings' -> 'advanced options' -> 'applications' -> 'opera mini', go to 'edit permissions' and change all to 'Allow'

Re: Need help on Opera Mini

however, the opera mini can't be set as your default browser, everytime a link is clicked or an OTA address is keyed in, the opera mini invokes the BB browser :/

any of you guys know if there's a solution for this?

My apn is mobilenet whereas username and password is blank. Currently I'm not using sunsurf, I'm using bb unlimited plan.
