Ok, as you are the T-mo version you already have the more estable OS installed on your BB (do not mess with it).

You should install BB Maps so you can get advantage of the GPS navigation (this software is free and you can get it at www.blackberry.com).

You can also install Google Maps (I do not have the link, but doing a little search in this forum and you will get it), with this you cannot use the GPS, but it is a great tool.

As for web browsing I recomend the free OperaMini (the link if I am not wrong is www.operamini.com).

Ok now the Instant Messaging (so you can use your ICQ, AOL, Yahoo, MSN, gmail account and chat with your BB), you can try/buy from handango.com the program IM+, but I prefer the program JiveTalk (it is on beta stage and you must subscribe to get the files, do a serach on this forum) or you can PM me and I will give you the link for the subscription.
    To be continued...

    Continue...

For the alerts (missed calls, pending email, sms, etc) I recomend the program Blackberry alerts, you can get it/buy it at www.handango.com

And the Must Have the pinstack launcher, do a search on this forum to get it, plus it is free!.

You can also get some games, handango.com is a good place as http://mobile.blackberry.com/

Besides you can download new themes by doing a little search on this forum, you will manage to get some.

And do not forget to have a BlackBerry data plan activated, so you can fully enjoy its potential.

On my signature is my PIN, if you want you can add me to your BB messenger and also you can find the link to the FAQs and guides for the Blackberry

    Cheers

Well the 8800 got an internal GPS, that you can use on advance apps like Blackberry maps or manually by going to Options -> Advance Options -> GPS then press the menu key and choose Update GPS.

This GPS use the global positioning satelites around the globe.

I do not know if anybody can manage to know where are you located, but one thing is for sure that your Cell Phone Provider always now where are you at by using Signal Towers Triangulations (as long as the battery is put, no matter is your phone is off).

About the OperaMini, the browser that come with your blackberry is WAP based, so you are going to be limited on certain pages, as for OperaMini it behaves itself as a desktop browser giving you more advantages when visiting a page. Please make note that sometimes is better to use the internal instead the Opera (example when downloading apps, themes, musics, etc by using OTA, you must use the internal), with this I just indicate that you should not unistalled the factory installed one.

    Cheers.

    Re: mr new guy

I am using mapquest mobile on my 8800 and it works goos considering it's free!

I have noticed that my GPS is off by about 60 feet in elevation, but for directions works well.

For instant messaging there is also www.webmesssenger.com which allows you to use Skype.
I am still looking to place a call through SKype to other skype users using my internet connection; any ideas?
