    Locked Firewall/IT Policy problem!

Hi all! Have read many threads regarding this issue, and found solution to clearing the locked firewall on my 8820. Did the "re-set to factory" via J-L Commander and all is good, until I reconnect with DM-4.7, which puts the firewall lock back in?? Have noticed in Options-Advanced-ServiceBook that there is a "Provisioning" SB there labeled UID "BESPRV-NA" that cannot be deleted? Could this be the problem, by invoking an IT Policy that I cannot seem to get rid of? No policy shows up under Security Options? Any thoughts would be helpful, thanks.

I am not 100% as I dont work with BES, but I would reckon that will be your problem.

Is there any reason you need to connect it to DM? Can you not download Apps etc OTA?

If at first you do succeed, try not to look so astonished.

Had the exact same problem with my 8820 that I bought on E-bay. Got it cleared thru RIM technical support after all else failed.

    newb,

I am assuming the DM install pre-dates your removal of IT policy. I would uninstall the Desktop manager and install from scratch to see if that helps. Perhaps even try ver 4.6

Thanks for the reply. That's what I thought as well, so on Saturday did just that. Uninstalled DM, deleted all the registry entries applicable, and then re-installed, with the same result. I will try again, and this time delete or relocate the "RIM" file in the program files as well, and see if that makes any difference. I wonder if my saved back-up has anything to do with it?

The key file to remove is the "policy.bin" file in the RIM folder/program files. Once I remover that, after reset to factory, no more locked firewall. I also installed DM 4.6 and deleted 4.7, which also made a difference. Downloads and installs apps no problem. Thanks for all the insights.
