I didn't need a bluetooth to connect my GPS.

nyydynasty you are using an 8100 and yes you need a receiver. The others in this thread are using an 8800 they do not need a receiver.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~I was going to say my GPS is built in and I don't need the bluetooth on to use it.

Just a fyi, even the external pucks take about 50+ seconds to reconcile location when turned on.

well mine just took about 5 seconds to start. its 23:26hrs here.

I think the searching mind also depend on where the satellite's position is in orbit while you search. Btw, i tried this outdoors.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I use google maps and yes I find it to be pretty slow compared to a dedicated GPS unit, not enough to write it off though.

    Nope. Mine is pretty quick.

It really depends on whether you have clear line of sight to enough satellites. Without knowing the specifics of your situation it's impossible to say. It could be normal depending on obstructions, weather, and where the GPS satellites are in relation to you.

    Re: is your GPS slow??

Mine is usually fairly quick. I am sitting at my desk at the office (second floor of 2 story building) about 6 feet from the window. When I go to options>advanced>GPS, and select refresh, it finds my position with 5 satelites in about 20 seconds. I assume it would be faster if I was outside.
