I've used paid programs (verichat and IM+) and free ones (Ramble), but I have to say, JiveTalk is the best so far. And with each new release the program gets better. When it comes out of beta the company may charge, but they have the best product and it stays connected better then the others I've tried. So, while it's free, go get it!

Jivetalk is better because its free (for now) and Im pretty sure once they decide to release the full version it will be reasonably priced, $50 for an app for a blackberry is rather extreme.

In addition- Jive talk support is great. Their team is on point with addressing problems and communication with clients. Hopefully this is something they continue to do after finalized version of Jivetalk becomes available.

well..hate to admit.. am another loser who spent 50 bucks to im+. jive talk stopped working for me and i purchased im+ which didnt work either. later i realised it was the TCP settings on the fone that was causing the problem. Now they both work. but i just use Jive Talk..i would have uninstalled IM+ long back, but it stays there cos i feel bad i spent money on it.

The way I look at it is this: Right now it's free. It could stay free for another month or another year. They could figure out a way to keep it free and use another source for income. Or they could charge $7 for it. Who knows? If you've paid for another program, use that. If you're up in the air, try Jive Talk out. You've got nothing to lose. If you're going to wait and see if they charge, that's just more time you have no IM client at all.

Jivtalk is not free it cost 19.99. If you look at the time that the above comments were posted it was around Feb 2007. At that time Jivetalk was beta and was given away for free, so that people could test it out.
