Are your pins bent or out of place in the socket?

You can sync / back up to desktop manager using bluetooth. If your desktop does not have it I think dongles are as cheap as $15-$20....

Are you sure your USB is bad?

Did this just begin? Do you have the proper USB drivers on your desktop?

i agree with Gary use bluetooth. plug your device into your pc and move the cable around to see if you can get it to pick up. does your phone charge from the PC or is it from a wall outlet?

Bluettoth seems only option. Prices are cheap if you need to add a BT reciver to your pc. DM works well with it.
