Am I supposed to go to this link on my 8800 (which I just picked up) or do I do it on my laptop and them install it that way?

The BB Maps not being supported on the 8800 is a financial decision. I am sure if we could get a hold of the contract between Cingular and Telenav it includes a exlcusivity clause. However, I am very happy with Telenav on my 8800

got it....seems a bit cumbersome....I keep trying to test it out with an address out of my address book and it doesn't seem to 'take'. I'm probably not doing it correctly. Are there directions anywhere?

Also someone said that telenav was a lot beefier....does it justify the 10 bucks a month?

Paperboy, I feel the 1 bucks is worth it. It made my BB work just like the regular navigation systems. With the Ipod, Xm, and My BB in the car, I did not need another thing taking up space. Granted I have only been using Telenav 2 days, but am quite happy. (I am in area I really do not know right now and I have not gotten lost)

Good...with either BB maps or Telenav, how do you toggle between the maps (directions) and phone, or email. Can you simply toggle between either on? If I'm traveling and using one service or the other, how do you switch if a call or email comes in?

Surely you aren't wanting to read or compose email while your driving???

Of course not, but if a phone call comes in and I have myt Blue tooth, I'd like to be able to answer it while still getting directions

    Re: Help! No Blackberry Maps

Thanks CoolCrack for posting the link.

    I have a work 'Pearl' and a personal 8800.

On my Pearl, maps shows up as:
    'BlackBerry Maps v1.0.61'
And the help text on panning shows:
'Pan a map, roll the trackball.'

On my 8800, maps shows up as:
    'LBS v1.0.70'
And the help text on panning shows:
    'Pan a map,
To pan up, roll the trackwheel up.
To pan down, roll the trackwheel down.
To pan left, hold the Alt key and roll up.
To pan right, hold the Alt key and roll down.'

Using Maps on the Pearl, you can trackball around.
Using LBS on the 8800, you can scroll up/down, but have to hold down 'alt' to left right, which is cumbersome when looking up quick directions one-handed.

Cookcrack (and whoever is hosting the link on knology) thanks for the link. Forgive looking the 'gift horse in the mouth', but is there a copy of the 'Pearl'/trackball enabled one to download?

I got spoiled on the 'Pearl' version, but want to use my 8800 with the built-in GPS AND trackball

Thanks again for the link! And forgive the mouse you already gave a cookie, for asking for a glass of milk.

    Re: Help! No Blackberry Maps

I can't get the file on coolcrack's link to download using my BB. If I click on the link using my PC, it comes down fine.

What am doing wrong? How can I simply put the file over to my bb?

If you modify the LBS.alx, you will get BB Maps version 1.1.27

Kasperapd's instructions are the way to go.

Well, actually, I'd say Telenav is really the way to go but if you're looking for a free solution BBM's your best bet so far.
