    *!*!*HELP - 8800 Charging pin snapped *!*!*

The Charging pin inside my Blackberry has come loose, it won't charge or connect to USB.

I've taken it to numerous retailers and they all say they won't touch them and that they have to go to repair centres and would take about two weeks but of course, I can't do that because I can't connect it to USB and back it up and Repair Centres always wipe the phones.

Do any of you guys have any tips of how I can get this fixed without going down that road?

    or DIY tips?

    Thank you in advance.

You CAN sync using bluetooth to back up your data. You can also purchase a charging cradle. But these are work arounds....you will probably need to get your usb replaced.

The charging cradle, available at sedioonline.com and other places, connects to those two gold contacts on the left side of the blackberry--just below the convenience key. It charges your battery.

Thank you guys, I will try and find one today.

What do you guys think of the external Battery Chargers?

Are these compatible with the 8800 battery?

I prefer the charging cradle because you don't have to take the battery out and can continue to keep the blackberry running while charging. With the cradle you don't need to fix your broken USB connection. Simply charge via cradle and connect via built-in bluetooth. You may need to get a blutooth dongle for your PC if it isn't already built-in.

Thank you, I hadn't considered that.

Unfortunately I can't find anywhere in London that sells cradles for the 8800!
It's infuriating, I hate buying things online.

Issue is that I believe the USB charging connection is attached to the circuit board. Very hard to replace

Problem solved, I managed to find a Blackberry power Station as someone suggested above - I can now charge my blackberry while it's docked and a spare battery at the same time.

Thanks everyone for the advice and support.

Just gotta make it last and hold out for the "Bold" now.

    Question Help

    Dear all

I too live in London and have a Blackberry 8800 which has a broken USB charger connection. I broke it an hour ago and the battery is running low..

Can you please tell me minitak where you found the charging cradle as I would like to pick one up myself this afternoon.

Also, a question for everyone here. How does one sync via Bluetooth? I have a cold chill running down my spine. I have not backed up in months...

    Hope you can help.
