    Question Help

I have the 8800. The other day I was using my phone and got an error message that I can not get off my screen. "uncaught exception java.lang.Classcastexception" I went to the blackberry support site, but it said hit <ok> and it would be fine, its just a preloaded ringtone error. I have tried to reset (ctl alt del), and I took the battery out for a couple hours. No luck, the message comes right back after security verification. I am also having trouble backing up the info, so i can reload the phone software. The backup works up to the point where it is backing up the "content store" and then it just freezes. I have to "ctl alt del" my laptop and "end task" the software in the task mgr. I am able to sync, but I dont know how to download my address book onto the computer. Keep in mind, I cannot get rid of the screen on my device, so I cannot access anything on my phone. I was hoping someone could HELP. I really need the info off my phone.

    Re: Help

Have you tried the advance. Back up to only backup your contacts?
Then you could re-install the os, hopefully.

    Re: Help

Download the software from your providers page, then you should be able to do it through the application loader portion of the Desktop Manager software.

Connect your BB to the PC, Open Desktop Manager, Click on Backup/Restore, Click on Advanced. This will open a transfer screen with your BB on the right and probably an empty table on the left. Select you Address Book on the right side and then Click the Left pointing arrow. This should copy it to the left side. You will have to give a path and file name by using the file/save as menu option.

    Hope this help
