    Hi

has your provider set it up so you have to use a program they offer?

I've heard of two reasons why satellites could not be contacted:

    1) You are inside a building.

    2) You are outside , but you have a skin on your 8800.

Then there are those of us with Verizon 8830s whose GPS doesn't work because Verizon had RIM disable it in software for absolutely no good reason.

You should also try to locate yourself on a map on the handheld. It helps the device find itself. Older GPS units, such as the Garmin III+ and V needed to be with 500 miles of their actual location so it could sync in a reasonable amount of time.

With my 8800, it takes 2-3 minutes to get enough satellites to figure out where it is.
