    Google Maps problem on 8820

Im new to blackberry, but have an 8820 on Orange UK. Im aware i cant use bb maps, but i have tried to download google maps, and when it loaded the software got stuck at 4. I searched this and found another application that seems to work, however now it gets stuck loading the terms and conditions, and comes back saying that it needs a network connection when it is connected either via GPRS or Wifi, and all the connection permissions are on allow.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Do you have a BB data plan? BBMaps and Google Maps both require a BB data plan. GPRS won't work and I am not sure about WiFi. I do know that when you do not have a dat connection, you are out of luck as the apps are constantly loading new map info as you travel.

Without a data plan it is almost impossible to get the maps working. Make sure that you haved a data plan from your service providers

BB maps is hidden on the 8820, to get it close desktop manager.

You need to download a copy of the operating system and install it on your pc, then go to windows explorer and select the my computer/c drive/program files/common files/research in motion/shared/loader files there you will see a file called something like 8820-v4.2.2.124_P2.4.0.58 select it.

Delete the vendor file or rename it, and then open the lbs.alx file and scroll down until you see a line of code which starts with "For 8800 series, hide the icon for Docomo" delete your vendor code (for Orange uk it's 142), then click file and save.

Open Desktop manager and connect your bb and run the application loader

Get your copy of the latest O/S here
    http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support...load_sites.jsp

To get your vendor number press Alt,Shift,H together on your bb.

For google maps i deleted the service book called IPPP for 5 click and it installed fine, you can then resend it from your BIS address.
