the only freeware apps that I use is google maps and google talk. I have tried berry411 which is pretty nice. and jivetalk which is really nice but just mysteriously stopped working with the newest client.

You HAVE to get MapQuest Navigator for your GPS navigation. It gives turn by turn instructions like pay for programs. The link is:

    http://mqnav.telmap.com/mqota/client.../8703e/mqn.jad

Even though it says it is for Sprint 8703 it works great on the 8800.

I use opera mini web browser. It does a good job of loading web pages that won't load in the BB browser. via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

This is the find of the century! Works great!

I had just about given in and sold out to the phone company subscription service. BBmaps and google maps are good for what they do. But the voice directions are a must and usually cost either in an up front purchase price or a subscription. Nav4all looked promising but seemed to do things in non-intuitive ways. Mapquest is simple, straight forward and works. Unless google comes out with an enhanced version, Mapquest seems to take the prize. I can finally rest, knowing that i've found a robust solution. I can give up the search.

    Thanks for sharing.

Um, that depends on your needs/wants. We're not psychic.

Do you know if Mapquest works on the Pearl with Cingular? If so do you have the OTA link?
    Thanks!

If you have a GPS puck I see no reason why the same link wouldn't work. It would be worth a try. But I don't know of anyone trying it. Sorry......

I thought I saw something about on one of the pages about 'trying mapquest navigator for free', as if to say that at one time, it won't be free.....

    Anyone know anything about this...

The website says "get a 30 day free trial on all Sprint/Nextel Blackberries". Not sure how long the rest get it for. Looked all over and couldn't find any mention.
