    First look at the 8800

Just saw the new BB for the first time and I was impressed! It is light and thin and so full of cool features! Makes my trusty 8700c look almost ancient. When I asked how much it was, the cingular rep told $400 with a two year contract. Yieks! Guess I will hold on to my 8700c a while longer until prices com down.

It should be 350 with 2 year contract and a 50 dollar rebate ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~

You can get one through Amazon for $125 or letstalk.com for $250.

The 8800 shouldn't have been that much, unless for your specific plan that is what it was. Also, if you like the 8800 and want a cam, you might want to check out the 8300 that's coming out for the new ATT soon...

It's going to be quite some time before the price for the BlackBerry 8800 drops.

In the UK, T-mobile should have it available 14 March (as per a T-mobile sales rep, anyway); T-mobile will be carrying it in Germany, too (and should already have had it, I believe). What this means for the USA, which I assume you are referring to, is unclear.

tmo in germany has it as of "beginning of march", same as voda DE, but so far only available online with a data plan (for both carriers)

Re: First look at the 8800

The way I justified paying $400 minus the rebate was that I would buy a new Palm every 18 months, if not more frequently, so by buying the 88, I didn't have to spend $150 or so on a phone plus another $300-$350 on a PDA. The big question for me is how much Verizon will charge for their next Blackberry device, and whether said device will be out by Christmas
