Exactly, that's why RIM calls it a Media Card everywhere, not Memory Expansion or Expandable Memory. It's strictly for storing playable media and as a secondary feature storing non-accessible files.

    Hope this helps.

Only for transfer. You can't install them onto the Media Card

    Hope this helps.

Re: cannot install the softwares into micro SD card?

I have over 50 items listed in my Applications list, and still have plenty of room to spare. The trick?
    • I make few calls so my Phone Log is not huge. If you make a lot of calls, go to Messages and hold down [Alt] and hit the letter P to display only phone calls*. Go back as far as you want (like a month or 2), then with a date highlighted, Click the wheel/menu button and select Delete Prior. Only phone calls will be deleted.
    • Use Saved Messages. If you have emails you really want to save, then Click the wheel/menu button and select Save. Once an email is saved, the Delete Prior command will NOT delete the message - even if it's displayed.
    • Be aware of how long you're saving messages for. If you're running out of room, back the retention period off a notch. From Messages, Click the wheel/menu button and select Options --> General Options and scroll down to Keep Messages and set it back 30 days.

    * - I'm pretty sure all BlackBerries come with [Alt]P set up as a Saved Search. If not, follow the directions here for creating and using a saved search.

What makes you say that the 64MB device memory is too small?

For example, my 8800 has the following apps loaded:
    • Empower
    • Google Maps
    • InfoSpace Fint It!
    • Ka-Glom
    • Klondike
    • LexSpell
    • Mapquest Navigator
    • Nav4All
    • Opera Mini 4 Beta
    • Blackberry Web Shortcuts
    • Telenav
    • Wayfinder
...and I have 18MB free. 64MB is plenty of space. Again, what are you attempting to load or are you just assuming that 64MB isn't enough space? BB apps don't have the same space requirements as PC apps. It's a common mistake to assume that's the case -- that and the assumption that you need to keep as much space free as possible like on a PC. BB's and PC's are entirely different beasts.

It would be nice if BB let you store programs on the card like the Treo let's you do. Since the memory card is relatively new, maybe we'll see this on a future release.

if can put the app onto SD card. that means lots of things can be done. something like we can put all the google map on SD card. when we using GPS, no need to download the map by GPRS everytime.

Yes, but you would save those to an SD card.

EDIT on a BlackBerry??? I love the device, but that's too much - on any PDA!

Where do you actually put games on your blackberry? When I use my desktop manager it's easy to see where to put pictures, ringtones, etc. but I don't see a folder for games... please let me know.
