when it comes to ATT, will you need a data plan to run the wifi, or can you just get a voice plan or family voice plan and use the internet only on wireless networks. I prefer not to pay a fee for data, and since there are hotspots everywhere now, seems like wifi will be very useful. Anybody know if ATT is gonna restrict the wifi usage to only data plan customers?

I have the same question as pyaragabroo... here in France we don't have any resonable data plans, so it's not even an option, and I would like a 8820 if only I can use the wifi to use all the data features...
But if I need a special data plan to get the wifi to work, then the wifi would be totaly useless for me...
If no one have the answer, I will test for you... I will have a 8820 to sell if I can't get the wifi to work

The 8820 does indeed have spell checking on the device.

Same as the 8800, this is replacing the 8800 and once all NEW stock of the 8800 has been expended you will not see that model anymore the 8820 is the replacement

So basically, the 8820 and the 8800 are pretty much the same, except for the wi-fi feature on teh 8820, correct? If thats the case, then I might as well get the 8800, I dont really care about the wi-fi

I had read on a few other threads that the 8820 will not have GPS. this thread says it will. Any definate answer on this? I am taking for granted you all are talking about GPS built in, and not an external bluetooth GPS.

I really want to know if TMO is getting this 8820 anytime soon. I would hate to cave in early and pay 500 for an unlocked version and TMO releasing in the next 2 months. This is the phone I've been waiting for and if there's a bigger and better BB coming out that I haven't heard of yet, please let me know.

TMO has the 8320 wich has the WIFI... dont care for that one?

Way too many bbs coming out for me. But if I can get a wifi 8800 on tmo. I would be a happy camper. The 8800 is a pretty fone.

I just got a refurbished 8700 in yesterday (my third one so far) to replace the one I broke last Friday (trackwheel). But after talking to several here at work, all using the 8800 series, I think I want one of those instead. I didnt need the gps, media player, etc before, but perpahps I need to rethink that.
Anyways, i just had IT order me a 8820 and it should be here in the morning. I was reading that the migration of 8700 to the 8800 can be done by using the desktop manager. Im on a BES and my DM is the most current, as well as, the version of the 8700 I am now using. Is there anything I need to look out for? I dont think the 8700 themes I have now will work on the 8820, but other stuff like my custom ringtones and pics should go over easily?

I have one question about the ATT 8820. I currently have an 8800 and love the GPS features. I use Google Maps and MapQuest Navigator. On the 8820, is the GPS locked to just use TeleNav? Would I have to buy an additional plan to use it? I heard ATT was going to lock down the GPS functions not to work with 3rd parts applications. Is that true? I want the WiFi features but the GPS would be a deal killer.
