Anything wrong with my Tmo 8800?

so i got my tmobile 8800 a few days earlier then expected, +1 for fedex lol.

anyways, i've had the pearl so im use to the navigation around this, must i say, the most sexiest smartphone i've laid my hands on.

anyways im curious, when i wanted to turn off the screen on my phone, when i press the red hang up button nothing happens, even when i hold it down, nothing happens, i though this was the standard button to do that with.

i noticed though that if i want to turn the screen off (not the phone entirely), i have to press that little silver power button on the top left of the phone, but when i press it once after my phone is on, the screen just gets brighter, then i have to press it again to turn the screen off....whats the deal with that low bright, high bright button pushing?

On the querty devices so far (like the 8800) the power button is still at the top. You have to press it twice on the 8700 to get it to turn the screen off. If you press and hold the button it will do a soft power down.

I have to correct myself after looking at some older models. The 8700 moved the power button to the top of the phone for the querty's. The 71xx's had it at the top also but can't recall if it actually shut the unit down.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ The red phone button on the 7100s does not turn the phone off. The power button on the top does. I can't figure out for the life of me why it is like that.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I had to replace a few 71xx models because of it.

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ Need to clarify the above post.

I had to replace a few 71xx models because that button got mashed down to where I couldn't use it.

Try pressing and holding the mute key at the top to go to standby mode

I'm no sure I understand why you'd expect the red button to power down when there's a separate power button. On devices that power down via the red button there's usually a power icon (the circle with the bar) on the red button.
