    adapting blackberry.alx

    Hi all,

I wanted to get the themes activated on my voda UK (with a german eplus sim) and followed the instructions according to this thread:

    http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...+vendor+themes

I entered the correct ID (120) in all the places mentioned, ran DM, ran Apploader, but nothing was found to update. The themes arent available on my bb...

    anyone have any ideas?

Did you delete the vendor.xml file... I had a similar issue this morning in turning on themes and I forgot to delete the aforementioned. Once, I deleted and ran app loader again worked like a charm.

    Hello,
what is the vendor.xml file? I did not delete it. I just edit the blackberry.alx file with my vendorid code. Was I also suppose to delete another file?

    Thank You,
    Art

I am not sure on what the actual file is for. But when you remove (delete) it the BB thinks it needs a OS update.

It is necessary to delete the vendor.xml file if you are using an OS from a carrier other than your own.

You would need to delete the vendor.xml file to install an os other that the one for your carrier, but this is not necessary to unlock the themes, you would only need to modify the blackberry.alx. If your os has the necessary files for the theme you want (whether its your carrier's os or not), this is the only necessary step, no need to delete vendor.xml.
