Maybe I'm getting old , but I don't remember it always doing that .
Is this a setting that I could change?

Do you have the vibrate profile enabled by any chance? Seems to me that when I have my berry set to vibrate it does that...

    Good idea, but no.
It happens when I use my Normal profile or my Phone Only profile or my Quiet profile ...
and none of those use vibrate when not holstered.

Here's an off the wall guess... but it's still a possibility because mine vibrated on boot also.

Are you using MiniMoni to monitor data usage? I had set MiniMoni to alert me (vibrate) when I hit 45 MB data per monthly cycle. When I had exceeded that 45 MB, it would vibrate on reboot as the application auto-started. Once my billing cycle that I had set for MiniMoni ended, the vibrate on boot stopped.

    In my case, mystery solved.

Oooooh, good idea ... but no.
But you've given me a pointer.
I'll look thru all installed apps and see if any of them do this..
