8820 3rd party app install problems

I'm having problems installing 3rd party apps for my 8820 via the Desktop Manager.
I've tried installing BBLight, Cryptmagic and Ramble IM but for each on I get pop-up message on my PC desktop that says "No additional applications designed for your device were found"

    Help please!

    Thanks,
    Hugh

Update: Was able to install BBLight and Ramble via OTA. Still having no success via DM.

    Try directly from your device.

make sure you have the 8820 handheld OS loaded on your desktop. Sounds like you just have the Desktop manager.

I didn't realize that the handheld's OS also needed to be on the desktop. I am using a downloaded version of DM from the BB website. If I re-install it from the CD that came with the 8820 will that also load the handheld's OS? Is there another way to get it loaded on the desktop manually?

    Thanks
    Hugh

Thank you very much. I'm having an issue with my 8820. See this thread: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com...on_8820_a.html

So depending on what happens at the AT&T store I might end up reverting back to the 8820.

Speaking of 3rd party stuff, has anyone had problems with Google Maps? I try loading it and it gets stuck at "4" not sure if maybe I'm lacking room on the phone, but I ordered a microsd card to see if that solves the problem.

I'm having issues install Google Services, but was able to install Google Maps and Gmail from a separate OTA install

Where did you do your install from? Mine installs, but when I click on the compass icon, it loads then just stops at "4."

This is the message I get after like a minute at the loading screen..

    "Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException"

    Any ideas?

Is anyone else having this problem? I haven't been able to get any third party apps or themes to install using Desktop Manager. I do have the latest software. I, too, get the message about there not being any applications designed for my device. I'm hoping this is just because it's so new?

Well I believe some of the themese and stuff in the downloads section are meant for OS 4.1. The 8820 has 4.2. You can downgrade if you like.

I'm having the same problem. No applications found type error, even though I have pointed the installer at the correct file. Do the files have to be installed in a particular folder? I don't believe that note about installing the OS on the PC. Doesn't make any sense.
