I'm not sure. I dont NEED either one. I WANT both. But, f i had to choose, I guess i would go with camera since i have to have a data plan anyways.

I have doubts that WiFi access won't be metered. Why would a mobile phone company let you use you device for free (even if your supplying the wifi!)? Voice will probably be metered with UMA and will be deducted from your pool of minutes (a skype phone it is not). Data will probably be tunneled back to your carrier or even RIM (or both). BES users might be exempted. I forsee all this will do is give you data access where you are lacking EDGE or GPRS data signal. I'm willing to bet we're still going to be charged for data, even on WifI (might be a flat -rate fee, but a fee still nonetheless). This is just wild speculation. But I don't think shareholders like missing profits. Granted I don't agree with it, but that's how I see wifi shaking up. But I could be wrong (if fact, I hope I am). Question! What existing WiFi enabled mobile phones have unstricted WiFi that is unmetered? I'd like to take a look at some of these. Particularly my COO is looking for a handheld device he can use for free ala Skype to make calls when traveling internationally. Last edited by Aroc; 02-09-2007 at 08:56 PM. |

lets be honest the wifi is great but on a blackberry or any handheld you are really not going to enjoy the wifi because the speed is to much for the handheld. i have had the 9300i,9500,E62,and treo650 . 3 of them had wifi and really never liked it i was always using the edge connection on all of them. also the wifi really kills the battery life. i rather go with a cam then anything else. plus most blackberry users have unlimited data might as well enjoy it.

Wi-Fi would be nice but I'm greedy so I would like both.

Yay whats with that. I thought the 8800 was supposed to have both and possibly a video recording option. OOO well, I'm not getting one anyway but I was just wondering about this. COJO 24 |

Hell, we were promised a year ago by RIM that the Q1 2007 release would see a 3G device. so pbbbt to your WiFi ( for UMA access, BTW) and camera.

I'd prefer Wi-Fi, but only because A) My office has it and B) My house has it. If that wasn't the case, then it would be useless. The camera is nice from time to time, but on every phone I've ever had, it was nothing more than a novelty. Occasionally I'd have an interesting picture, but nothing where it is required. In addition, many of my company's customers don't allow cameras within their facilities. While I blatantly ignore this now with my current camera phone, I'm sure I'll eventually run into a place where they check everything out to enforce their own policy. |

Both, but I picked camera as I generally have a laptop (and prefer browsing on it) when I'm in an area covered by WiFi. Quote:

I need a handy camera for taking pictures of UFO's or aliens - it is easiest if it is built into my phone - that way I do not scare them aware when snapping their pics.
