In my way of thinking, that is true. A ubiquitous 3G cellular network would pretty much negate the need for WiFi for me and for most users.

Now, there will still be those who prefer WiFi...the greater bandwidth will allow for VoIP, some will still want the ultrafast data speeds when surfing the web or downloading huge attachments, etc.

But honestly, when I use Verizon's EVDO broadband service, I don't need WiFi. The EVDO service is really great for most uses.

If I got only one choice then wifi. I think for us in Canada wifi is the way to go since Rogers still charges "lotz mullah" for their data plans. Wifi ......................

I would much rather have a camera...hell i'm paying 50 bucks a month for the evdo data option, i might as well use it .

If i lived in a rural area, then i might cite with the wifi, but here in NY with the verizon network, I've never had the inconvenience of being left in the cold without a signal *knocks on wood*

Wifi would open so much possibilities, especially for people that CANT pay for DATA service...
The camera... you can buy an ultra-compact camera that would take far better pictures... wifi... you can't add wifi support with an extra item, or buy something just to surf on wifi ? hmmm... not very conveninant.
Anyway, I dont say that camera is useless for anybody, but wifi is far more great! We can make VoIP call, surf on the net faster...
And I don't know on what planet you live on but here DATA is very expensive, per month, and per Mo...
So definitly, the Wifi is a must, the Camera can be a good option, but only if it's a decent one

I live in Canada and would rather Wifi to the camera. Wifi is way more cost efective for us here than to have a data plan.

I'd rather have the camera. EDGE is quick enough for what I do. The camera, on the other hand, is an asset for work - I don't need high quality pictures, and the camera on the Pearl works great for what I need.

You bring up a good point about the usefulness of the camera for your application.

This is the reason very reason that I find BlackBerry products so compelling is they have something for everyone.

wi_fi.. I migrated to BB from a Nokia E61. I miss the wi-fi. The 8800 with wi-fi would be the best of both worlds. MMS..well anotherdiscussion/poll.
