For all you 8800 users who are not "Quick on the Draw" the following code is useful in extending your ring time before diversion to voicemail. It works on 02 in Ireland.

    **61*XXXXXXXXXXX**tt#

XXXXXXXXXXX = Voicemail number (In Ireland it is your full number with a prefix of 5 after the 086, 087, or 085 depending on operator)
tt = time in seconds up to a max of 30.

Your voicemail center number. This code is standard for GSM.

The code indicated above is dialed from the Phone application of the 8800...."Green Phone logo button" then pressed as normal, placing the call.....the code is then rerouted by your service provider and sets up your divert status.

    Re: 8800 Ringtime extension

so what youre saying is I dial **61*XXXXXXXXXXX**tt30 (my voicemail # goes where the X's are) then just hit send? Does this mess with anything? Can it be undone?

Well it works in Ireland.....don't know about the west coast of US......all these can be undone, but usually if it's not appropriate to your service provider you will get an error message indicating that your attempt failed. No lasting damage to your handset since it's a service provider adjustment. Normally people just ring, in your case tmobile, and a helpful techi will give you the appropriate code to modify your ring time.

also replace the "tt" with 30 to increase your ring times to 30 Secs.

Make sure you're actually using your voicemail center number. You can confirm by checking in Phone->Options->Call Forwarding.

Yes -- use the instructions above. As I said, it's the same for all GSM carriers. You'll have to look up your own voicemail center number as there's no way for me to know what it is.

What is the standard length the phone currently comes with? 10-15 seconds?

    Re: 8800 Ringtime extension

my default is 20 seconds including vibrations - the caller hears 4 rings unless youre off/busy/ignore. I figure if thats not enough time for me to get the phone which is always on my hip anyway..then I dont want it to ring anymore. I also think if its longer than 4 rings the caller gets impatient and would usually hang up before even getting to VM. Cool feature though
