    8800 problem with keyboard

I just changed to the 8800 from the 8700c. I am having a terrible time with the keyboard. The 8800 keyboard is much closer together, the keys are slippery and very hard to see. I feel like I need to get glasses now. I love the 8800 but am having a hard time typeing, those keys are just so small. I still have the 8700c with me but have to choose very soon what one to keep. What to do. I just came from the blackberry site and switched handhelds back to the 8700c to try and make up my mind about what one to keep. Did any one else have trouble when they changed to the 8800?

I switched from an 8700 and it took some getting used to. Now I love it. I think you can actually type faster once you get used to it.

It took some time but I'm definitely used to it. How long have you been using the 8800?

    Re: 8800 problem with keyboard

I went to the Cingular store and looked at other models today. There was not anything I saw that I would have swaped the 8800 for. I had the Treo 650, the 8125, the Blackjack, the 8700c and now the 8800. I put the Treo 650 and the Blackjack in the desk for a rainey day, the 8125 I sold. The 8700c will go back this week. I filed my typeing finger nails way back and if that does not help I will let them grow then file them in the shape that will help me to work the keyboard better. I sure hope I can get used to the keyboard because I do like the phone.

    Re: 8800 problem with keyboard

My new 8800 arrived on Friday, got it hooked up to my BES instead of my pearl. Friday was a real busy day for me, by four o'clock I just had to go back to my pearl as I was struggling masively not jsut with typing but also the green, red, menu and esc keys, they just have no deifinition.
I really want to like the 8800, but the keyboard is a massive -ve. I have been playing with my 8700 today, and it is so much easier to use the keys and feels much more solid, what I wouldn;t giv for a trackball, mini SD and possibly camera in my 8700 I would be as happy as a pig in S***

I understand completely of your woes. It will be a tough nut to crack but i will get up the cash to pay for both units and be happy. It's to bad there is no way to have a duplicate sim card so each unit can have one and you can just use what ever one you need to at that moment. It is time consuming going on the web site and swapping hand helds but at least there is that option. It's to bad cingular won't let you register two sims on the same account so you can just use what ever unit you need to. Your only going to use one at a time so what is the big deal, the time comes off you account anyway.

Had two hours at work on 8800. Wasn't too bad. Brought it home and am tryibg to do as much typibg to compare speed and accuracy which for most of us is key. This is rattling out now! I'll give it a couple of days before deciding if I'm going to carry on using it.
