| 8800 codename Indigo Feb '07 release
Hey guys I dont know if any of you read the article entitled Forbes "New Year Won't Stop Research In Motion" (it's featured on the homepage right now but I believe it goes under rumors and news) but they mention the 8800 with the codename of Indigo and a Feb '07 release.

this is all getting to be so confusing in the article they called it the Indigo (compared to GammaRay) with a release date of Feb '07 (compared to Jan and April 07) but then you hear conflicting reports so I guess we just gotta wait and see

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ I'm guessing that the "Indigo" name will be for the 'camera-less' version, and the "Gamma-ray" will have the cam. I am pulling that from a very dark place, though, so don't be surprised if I'm way off base... |

I can't wait. While the camera has its uses, there are places that it would not be allowed, so which ever one comes out first will be the one I get. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

I personally don't see the cameraless berry selling like hotcakes off the shelf. I think that in a way this is a good move for RIM and a bad. Good because they have to satisfy both groups of consumers. Bad because since there will be 2 different versions, stock analysts and other people will claim that sales aren't "what was expectedl". Just my $0.02 ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

Well the 8800 is a great motivational tool for me already. I'm paying off my credit card so I can afford it whenever it comes out on T Mobile. ~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~ |

Conversely, I also believe there is a strong market for the 8800 Crimson, with a camera. For those who want a camera and do not have any restrictions as to access, this is a terrific device. Plus from the pre-production data I have seen they are slightly different in size and appearance which will give them each a unique appearance. They will be easy to tell apart and sell very well. One of the best moves RIM has made lately is the addition of the 8100 Pearl aimed at the consumer market. The success of this new model is terrific and only adds more awareness of the BlackBerry brand in the mainstream market. This in turn creates more new BB customers, revenue and success. Everyone wins! Cheers......... |
