    8300 and desktop software

Great article in the NY times today on the new Curve. They mention a feature that will allow you to have a folder on your computer desktop in sync with the BB. Do you think this will be also compatible with the 8800?

If yes, any idea when I can upgrade my OS?

Desktop Software 4.2.2 (Sp2) is now on the Blackberry Web Support Site. I think this is a good indicator the 8300 will be quite soon. The version also works with the Pearl & 8800 & I think includes the Roxio Media Manager. I am downloading now & it is a 231MB file download.

The 8300 was released earlier this month. It is available in Europe currently so the release of the new DM is not an indicator of anything. RIM was actually late in releasing this on the website.

OS releases are up to each carrier. RIM's release of an OS update really has nothing to do with when a given carrier will approve and post the OS update to their site.

DM releases are completely different as RIM just places them on their own site (though you can download from your carrier if you prefer to wait for some reason).

I always run the most up to date version from RIM since the carriers seem to be pretty slow in updating their own sites.
