4.2 8700 update

do you think with the release of the 8800 that there will still be a 4.2 OS update for the 8700g?

There has been talk about 4.2 for the 8700 here on the Stacks since early September. Some people have even gotten their hands on beta? versions of 4.2. I haven't heard a lot about this over the last month or so. I would sincerely hope that they will release it after the 8800 is released. It might not be for a little while though.

In a way its a good time they try to take their time in developing these OS because that way we can get an efficient OS that wont crash say like Windows

In a way I agree with you, however it would be nice to get some type of release date so we can all stop the constant vigil for this OS update.

If they keep testing and finding bugs its hard to give a solid release date. I would rather NOT see a date than have them set a date and change it.

The release that i am using 4.2.1.139 has bugs and some functions missing. I will keep testing until the next release.

Don't hold your breath on a 4.2 OS for the 8700 series, or in fact, any series of device other than the 8100 and newer devices.

Rumor Mill has it, that there is only like a 20% chance for RIM to even publically release a 4.2 OS for the 8700 series.

More than likely, if you want a 4.2 OS, either going to need to get a pearl or wait for the 88 series.

new stuff will always come out, whether its a year or a month later....technology is crazy now...thats just how it is...get a beta version of 4.2, works like a charm, just like the pearl....8100 and 8800 cant hang with the 8700 with 4.2...hollllllla

~via BB (wap.pinstack.com)~yeah, new tech comes out all the time but not completely new Operating Systems! When 4.2 comes out you think there will be any room for us 4.1 guys!?! Just saying a lot of us might not like the track ball and enjoy our 8700s. RIM hold us down with this OS upgrade!!!!
