THat is the question, We know they can, its a matter of if they did, Some IT guys will lock out anything and every thing that is not Company realted. They do that here, THe only thing they don't lock is the BBM and the Camera. Browsing is limited, and Downloading is highly restricted. THey will allow some appts if enough people make a fuss. But it is like pulling teeth.

They actually block yahoo.com, the whole 9 yards?!

You could argue that at times email pushing is down, and when that happens it is
a natural alternative to check your email by going to mail.yahoo.com .

Hence such policy is not to the Company's benefit

Companies have a their own twisted view, and they are looking to make sure company data is safe for one, and the other is productivity. My big issues with it in our case is, if I Buy the phone, you can't tell me what I can and can't do with it, So no BES for me. They don't really MAKE anybody get on it below middle management. And even above that I think it is only Strongly suggested. WHen they buy me a phne they cam lock me out of what ever they want, i don't care, that just means I'll carry their phone and mine LOL

    Your position sounds reasonable

It often happens that people making policy have some set views, and in the
tradeoff between security and productivity they lean towards the former.
