    wrong usb cable

I plugged the USB cable from my old 7130 into my 8130 by a mistake. The phone was completely out of juice and I walked away after plugging it to my computer. When I came back there was a message on my computer saying: A USB device has malfuctioned and exceeded the power limits of it's hub port. Now my 8130 will not power up with my home charger or my proper USB. How badly have I messed up my phone. I would be gratefull to any help.

Also, the Desktop Manager says there is no device connected.

I honestly didn't think it made a difference. I have USB cables from my 71xx series and they work fine.

OK everyone please be nice when I tell you I overlooked something. I work long days in my truck and forgot about something that happend on Friday. My phone was low on power so I stoped by my house and grabed my wall charger and old ac/dc adapter I have. I plugged the adapter into my car lighter and then conected my wall charger. The phone didn't indicated that it was charging and the red light on the adapter didn't glow. After 8 seconds at the most I unpluged and forgot all about it. I left my wall charger in truck and didn't use my phone all weekend. On Monday I plugged in the usb and walked away. 20 minutes later I came back and noticed the message. Mabey I'm just an idiot for using the adapter. I'm stiil positive I used the usb from my 7130 if that matters anymore.

We all make mistakes. But it's good that you figured out what went wrong.

Just a shot in the dark but have tried the magic cure-all blackberry cure where you pull out the battery, wait a full minute, amd then reinsert?

If you can, try finding another battery and testing that out.

The USB cable is unlikely to be the cause of the problem... see e.g. my "Water Damage" post a few months ago. (It is not about water damage )

I wouldn't trust a cigarette lighter charger-- I've seen too many phones damaged. When I need it I plug into it a power adapter; it provides AC for a laptop, say, as well as DC outlets that are not electronically syspect.

It costs something. But so do your electronic devices.
