    With soaring gas prices...

I was curious, with the soaring gas prices nationwide, has anyone been able to telecommute for work or have a shorter work week because of the advantages and increased productivity the Blackberry creates?

Not yet, but since I drive 70 miles a day roundtrip, I would sure like it. I work in IT and can do most everything from my laptop at home.

I already have a 4x10hr workweek, so asking for more may be pushing it

When it hits $5/gal, I will probably start hinting....

Unfortunately my job involves driving so if i tell you how many miles i drive every 8 hours you might start crying. I'm a field supervisor; so i have to check on every account we have. I usually drive about 100 miles on a slow night but thursdays when it's time for these employees to get their checks I push 210 miles in 8 hours. Oh, btw I don't use my car nor my money; company pays for it. I think jobs like this will end soon which i'm very happy since i hate doing it. On another note, I constantly use my curve and Amaze gps to get around at work.

Not at my job, but I know a friend who works for American Express, and they have a 10hr/4 day rotating work shift up on the table. I wish I had that option.

Nope. I drive 400-450 miles a week for work. Wish I could though.

Well I understand where most have no option. I work for a large ambulance service and we are going to be about $500,000 over budget this year because of the astronomical increase of diesel fuel prices.

I'm the Director of the 9-1-1 center and also over IT so I can basically do everything remotely except manage my employee's so I'm about to start looking at a 4 day work week when I'm able to skip a day during the week.

i work for myself as a network consultant and i already work remotely but yes i charge less if i am allowed remote access versus a client who demands onsite service

    Nope, no AMR... We're a private, not-for-profit, hospital-based service.

I saw one but don't remember what it was called. Berry41? Maybe I'm not sure so don't quote me on it. But I do know there is such app.
