will I go over 5mb if I only use IM?

i recently activated a mini data plan with Rogers. $5 for 5mb, but it basically only enables wap and IM access. it's not a true data plan.

my question is, how much through put does jivtalk take up? if I run jive talk only a few hours a day when I am not home and send receive the odd IM will I go over 5mb a month?

or is jive talk pretty thin? and there is no way I could go over 5mb even if I use it allot..............

I have messed around with WAP, and I really don't see myself using it at all. so I will be using IM exclusively.

    Hopefully this helps!
I have 125 hours of uptime. So the last time I rebooted my phone was ~5 days ago and the total bandwidth I've used was 6054kb

paulypaul... trust me on this one... I am with Rogers... you will go over that plan... I went over mine by 12 MB and was charged 90 dollars... ridiculous!! Especially if you plan to use Jive or roam the internet.

And presently there is no way to track your data until you recieve your first bill... Be very careful!

I suggest if you want to IM... take the 60 dollar plan... it sucks but you'll need at least 25mb to get you through the month...

    Hope this helps...

Good luck Pauly! Just remember that data usage was accumulated in only a week. I do IM a lot though, since I have friends on aim/msn/gtalk/yahoo! Still though, what's the point of having jivetalk if you don't use all the im programs hehe

    welcome to my world.

$5 for 5m is rogers best plan, and its not even true data.

here are rogers current BB data plans

    $25 =1mb
    $40 =7mb
    $60 =25mb
    $100 =200mb

Wow, are there no unltd plans? If I tether my phone I can use upwards of 200MB in a couple of hours. I know you're just using it for AIM, but to be safe, I would get a bigger plan.. $5 may save you a little bit of money, or cost you buttloads. Good luck.
